Kiarash Nikoo: Outstanding Award Prize

Maths Competition success

Year 11 student Kiarash Nikoo has won an Outstanding Award prize in the University of Melbourne Mathematics Competition. This is a very challenging three-hour test on problem solving and mathematical proofs.

Northcote High School has also had great success in the Australian Mathematics Competition. Zara Baglioni, Matthew Santoro and Patrick Kingham of Year 7 have all achieved a High Distinction, placing them in the top 1% of students who participated.

Over 180 students from Years 7 to 11 sat the competition and 58 students achieved a Distinction, placing them in the top 20%.

Congratulations to all and a big thank you to Nathan Clisby of Melbourne University who has been working on higher order problem solving with a group of our senior Mathematics students.
