Year 10 Leadership Camp

The first week of Term 2 was a little bit different for 12 selected students in Year 10. They were fortunate enough to take part in a Leadership Camp for five days in the Cathedral Ranges. Students participated in a range of activities that worked on developing their leadership skills and were also taken through some rock climbing, abseiling and hiking.

Students had to challenge themselves throughout the week and push out of their comfort zones to accomplish the goals they set for themselves. It was a pleasure to be involved with the camp and a big thank you to Ms Eales and the staff at Rubicon Outdoor Centre for their work in organising the camp. Below is a small summary from James Smith and his experience in the camp.

On the Rubicon 5-day Leadership Camp we participated in numerous activities. The first day was just arriving and settling in by gathering all our equipment for the journey ahead.

On day 2 we chose 5 goals for us as a team; they were:

  1. Communication
  2. Self-awareness
  3. Empathy
  4. Resilience
  5. Team player

We climbed a huge mountain and for myself that was one of my challenges, due to a massive fear of heights. The weather didn’t help the situation being cold, raining and even having some hail.

On day 3 we walked up another mountain and this time I managed to get all the way up and beat my fear of heights. I had a really good time and wouldn’t have been able to do it without my mates and peers with me on the camp. They were a massive help!

Year 9 and 10 EIS

Year 9 and 10 EIS Football attended Anglesea Football Club to complete some match simulation and Training on Monday, 26 April and are attending again on Monday, 3 May.

Students completed conditioning drills, specific kicking training with Dave Newett from K2A and then a practise match. EIS Students will be involved in several excursions during Term 2 and then we’re looking forward to getting back to normal!
