Students Accounts of the Year 7 Camp at Burnside

Kayleigh Dunford

In week 7, Year 7 students went on school camp for three days to Burnside Camp in Anglesea. The experience was unforgettable in my opinion. The camp was for kids to meet different people and try new things, one of my favourite things at camp was the amazing bike ride. It wasn’t just a ride around the corner it was up and down magnificent hills while riding we enjoyed the beautiful view.

My second favourite thing was the night walk up the hill, it was a good way to meet new people. I met lots of other people that I didn’t know before and now I’m really good friends with them. The people that work at Burnside were so nice and kind and helped us any way they could.

My third favourite thing was sleeping after all the activities of the day, you just felt like you wanted to go to bed. Some other people just didn’t want to go to bed, which was me on the first night, not going to lie. You had to be in bed and lights off by 9:30 pm and wake up about  7:00 am in the morning, but overall the camp was one of the best moments of my life and I am thankful for that.

My experience on camp was good. I met new people in my cabin and got along with them. It was fun with all of the different activities we got to do such as: the flying fox, the zipline, the high ropes and low ropes course, the bike ride and much more. The dinner and afternoon and morning tea was really good. I had fun meeting new people in my cabin and getting to know them. These were just a few of my highlights from camp and I hope, in future camps, there will be more.

Camp was extremely fun. I was able to step out of my comfort zone. The activities were really fun and my favourite was probably the high ropes, the funniest part was probably going to wake up all the boys at 6:00/6:30 am every morning and when we sat around the campfire and ate marshmallows.

My camp experience was a very fun time. I met lots of new people and made a couple of new friends. The highlights of camp was probably the high ropes course. I went out of my comfort zone and pushed myself to do it. I successfully did the whole course and was very proud of myself and others that had the courage just to climb up the ladder. I would definitely want to go back to that camp and do it all again. It was super fun and the Year Sevens next year will have lots of fun too.
