House Competition Update

Building our House Culture at Edgars Creek Secondary College

As Term 1 draws to a close, it is time to take a look at where our four Houses stand with respect to the 2021 House Competition

At the end of Term 1, Week 9, Doherty House had secured a 9,109 point lead over second-placed Wollert House.

Jenkins House was just a smidgen behind in third place, by the razor-thin margin of 67 points. In fact, Jenkins had been in second place for most of the term, before Wollert leap-frogged into second place after a bumper week of positive behaviour and attitudes across all subjects. McDonald House rounds out the rankings in fourth place with just over 100,000 points.

What will Term 2 bring? Can Doherty hold onto its lead? Will Jenkins reclaim second spot?

Receiving House Points

You may have received a number of email notifications by now awarding your child house points for demonstrating one of the four College values:

  • Respect All
  • Embrace Learning
  • Aim to Innovate
  • Look to Inspire Yourself and Others

While points can certainly be earned during House sport competitions, the vast majority of points this term have been earned through positive in-class behaviours and attitudes.

The email notification home provides students with meaningful and positive communication to their families, while also helping to reinforce the positive behaviours and attitudes demonstrated.

In recent times, many students have opted to help in our continued attempt to beautify our outdoor spaces by eliminating litter. Students have taken to grabbing a bucket and tongs to contribute to this cause, aptly demonstrating two of our values: Respect All and Looking to Inspire Yourself and Others. The trend has certainly caught on, with no lunchtime now happening without at least a handful of students helping to clean up the yard.
