Principal's Update

Paul Clohesy

Dear families,

As we enter our final week for Term 1 my overwhelming feeling is to be thankful that we have made it through with only one small interruption to school. It has been fantastic that the students have been able to have continuity with their learning and that they have been able to experience normal school life again.

Last Thursday we conducted our Open Day. For the first time the event was moved to a weekday and included student guided tours in the morning with the school in operation and an afternoon session that included presentations, subject displays and interactive activities for our visitors.

As is always the case, our students really came to the fore in the manner they showed families around the facilities and answered questions about the school.

I received very positive feedback from parents who visited about how informative, proud and impressive their student tour guides were.

For families who were not able to attend Open Day, tours can be arranged by contacting the school.

Term 2 will see some minor staffing changes which could result in your child having a different teacher. Melissa Noonan will be finishing at the end of this week to begin her maternity leave. We wish Melissa well and look forward to hearing her exciting news. Melissa’s classes will be covered internally by our Mathematics and Science staff, however this will necessitate them coming out of other classes mainly in the PBL, Health and PE area.

The College has managed to employ Jade Elborough from the start of Term 2. Jade is an excellent educator and will be teaching in the areas vacated by the Mathematics and Science staff.

I wish all of our families a safe, happy and holy Easter. Our Easter Liturgy this week with our students will focus on the sacrifice Jesus made for us and how, in turn, we can be thankful of this and remember to put others before ourselves.

Thank you to all the staff and students for their hard work throughout Term 1 and to all of our families for their ongoing support.
