Extra Curricular

Year 12 Cotton Excursion

Our Year 12 Agriculture students had a fantastic time on their Cotton Field Trip earlier this month. First up, after a quick overview at the Narrabri Information Centre there was an activity regarding water usage in the Namoi Catchment. They then visited the Cotton Research Centre to learn about collaborative, innovative research between the CSIRO the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Cotton Agribusiness where they observed plant cloning research, plant breeding and artificial pollination to produce hybrids. The day ended with a tour of Cotton Seed Distributors at Wee Waa. The excursion also involved a visit to Watson's Cotton Farm at Baan Baa and sustainable tree planting along the Namoi River with Andrew Watson and his family.
