HRIS Cross Country

With the largest team Calrossy has ever sent to HRIS for Cross Country representation, there were some very impressive results from our Junior and Secondary students. Calrossy Junior School had an amazing eight students achieve a top ten position with three athletes in the top ten of the 11 Yr's age group alone. Calrossy Secondary School results were just as impressive with track superstar Abbie Peet continuing her dominance in the Multi Class race. Accompanied by her (much slower) guide Mr Price, she sailed to an easy victory.

Jack Kelly – achieved 4th Position in an extremely competitive 12-year-old field!

There were two top ten placings in the 15 years category with Lucy Scanlon placing 4th and Olivia Coombes 9th!

Larissa Smyth was a step ahead the rest of the 16 Yrs field with an amazing race achieving first position.  All three Smyths were in attendance on Friday so the running gene is definitely in their blood.

Girls Rugby

Our three Calrossy Girls teams Under 14, 16 and 18 travelled to Scone to play in their first game of the season.

Scone proved a formidable opposition in every game proving too strong in both the Under 14 and 16 fixtures. Both teams showed promise for the rest of the year and displayed many of the skills that they have been practising at training sessions over the last several weeks.

Our Under 18 girls emerged one point winners over Scone Under18’s in a very competitive game highlighted by solid defence and skilful attack from both teams.

Thank you to the coaches, Mr Jeremy Maslen, Ms Rosie Ferguson and Mr Frank Roche for mentoring our teams on the night and to Calrossy staff members who acted as team managers, Mrs Kathy Dejong and Mr Geoff Neilsen for their support.  Thank you also to the many parents who travelled to Scone to add their support to our teams.

We look forward to seeing our all of our teams to continue to improve their skill set under the guidance of our coaches.  I thank them for their time, enthusiasm and expertise at each training session.

Final Results:

Under 14 Scone 54 Calrossy 0

Under 16 scone 25 calrossy 0

Under 18 calrossy 15 scone 14

Boys Rugby

With Country Championships on this past weekend meaning 16s and 18s had no rostered games it was down to the Year 7 and year 8 teams to represent Boys Rugby for Calrossy.

The Under 14 Year 7 team had a loss to Gunnedah, however the boys had an outstanding game for their first time playing together. Gunnedah was a very competitive and strong side, but to our credit we kept our heads high and continually improved throughout the match. Some stand out performances from Archie Taylor and Spencer Anderson (Man of the match). Dylan Ginman also led from the front bringing plenty of aggression to the forward pack. All in all, a wonderful team effort with a lot learnt during the game.

The Under 14 Year 8 team had their second win in as many weeks. A dominant start to the season saw the boys fly to a 45-28 win over the Pirates last Friday night. All boys played exceptionally with standout performances from Oscar Turner (5 Tries) and 1 try and 3 conversions from Toby McIlveen.

Proving their talent, the year 8 boys again displayed dominance against Armidale on Friday night down at Plain Street, coming away with a 36 – 12 win, Oscar Turner again shone with 4 tries and 1 conversion and Jamie Grant was not far behind with 2 tries and 2 conversions.

Final Results Round 2:

Under 14 Year 7 Gunnedah 39 Calrossy 14

Under 14 Year 8 Armidale 12 Calrossy 36
