THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BABY

OSCAR HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!

And the very proud parents shared the following:

We welcomed into the world the most magical little squish named Oscar Kordos.

He came ten days early, weighing 4.07 kgs at 9:25am on a Friday morning and born in the Year of the Ox, just like his Mumma.

We have had Oscar in our lives just over a week and feel like we have known him forever.

Oscar looks like I did as a baby but other than that, he is all Tom.

He is a great little eater and doesn't mind a sleep here and there, so we are absolutely blessed with the most chill baby on the planet (for now).

He has already bonded with his cousin, who is my sister's baby, and is looking forward to many playdates and sleepovers in the future.

We are so obsessed with our little Irish, Slovakian Aussie.

Year 1

In Year 1, we have been doing Persuasive Writing and we wrote a letter to an alien to convince them that Earth is the best planet to live.

Dear ET,

I think that Earth is the best planet because we can go to school and learn lots of things, we can go shopping and we can play with friends.

From Hope

Dear Mr Bobo,

I think that Earth is the best planet because it has good food and very nice people. Earth has lots of cool things to see.

From Jack

Dear Loops,

I think that Earth is the best planet because you can play and make new discoveries each day. You can also make new friends.

From Lacie

Dear Creeptina,

I think that Earth is the best planet because there is beautiful nature around us. People are friendly and loving. Also we love to have a great time and lots of fun!

From your new friend,

Lila

We practised doing everyday tasks like writing our name, opening a bottle and putting on socks whilst wearing thick gloves to feel what it is like for the astronauts when they are wearing their space suits. We even made our own versions of the Apollo 11 rocket.

Year 3/4B

Over the past week, the 3/4  children have been learning about the causes and effects of the Earth, the Moon and Sun have on each other.

One effect we experience every day are the changing tides.

Ruby has put together a Google slide presentation explaining the cause and effect on Tides.

Ruby has found the information on the internet, created the slides, chosen the background and created this presentation herself.

Well done Ruby!

Year 3/4C

In 3/4 we are focusing on writing explanation pieces using our knowledge of cause and effect. Last week the students chose topics that they could relate to, and were asked to explain their chosen topic in the form of an explanation report. Here is an example written by Evie R, on the topic    'What makes a good friend’.

Friendship

Friendship is one of the key things in life. It is important to keep your amazing friends, but you have to know how to!

Being a good friend means we can be there for one another. You also need to show respect and be inclusive of your friends. For example, including them if they ask to play with you. It’s NOT fair to say it's only a two person game. Even if it is not your friend and they ask to play with you, you still include them. If they say ‘’could I please play with you’’, as a result you don't say no you include them.

Why am I a good friend? I love to be kind to everyone and be inclusive and that is exactly why or how you make friends!

By Evie R, 3/4C

It has been absolutely wonderful to see the Year 3/4C students back at school this week. Their energy has been uplifting and their motivation to jump straight back into classroom routine is to be admired.

This week, we have been continuing with our Mathematics Unit on Fractions. The students were given a packet of M&M’s and were asked to represent their sweets in the form of Fractions. All students enjoyed the hands on, engaging and delicious maths activity.  Here are some images of the students working independently and collaboratively in our back to onsite learning activities.

His entry depicting a dove over our planet earth won with almost 20% of the vote. Ptolemy's design will be included in advertising boards wishing the Brighton community a Merry Christmas.

An honorary mention also goes to Sophie B (Yr6) whose entry came a close second place. Her design depicted a yellow background with a Christmas tree atop our Earth with hands shaking in peace.

Both designs were beautiful. We thank everyone who entered!

Ptolemy's design is number 20 and Sophie's design is number 9. All entries can be viewed via the gallery site here: https://sites.google.com/view/stjpachristmascomp/home
