WELLBEING
Hello Everyone,
Our students have begun their staggered return to school and it is great to see the playground and school buzzing again. However, we do understand that this excitement may not be for everyone. Our students will be experiencing mental, physical and emotional overload as their routines are re-established. The stamina for us all will need to be increased in a gentle capacity. On this note I have included a link here to a great article written by a local mindful kids program facilitator that gives some great tips on returning to school.

I also understand that parents may have some questions about returning to school and how safe it really is. To support Victorian school children with their return to onsite learning, The Royal Children's Hospital hosted a Facebook Live featuring experts in health and learning on 14th October 2021. You might be interested in listening to this information as we continue to work towards all children returning to full time face to face education.

Squid Game-Netflix show
Unfortunately a number of our staff have reported students talking about 'Squid Game' at school. This show is completely inappropriate to be talked about or viewed in front of children. It has also come to our attention that the popular online game called 'Roblox' now has an area within the game called 'Squid Game' which may reflect some of the content from the Netflix show. Staff will hold a lesson on watching inappropriate content over the next few weeks. Can I please ask that you read the following article so you are aware as to why watching content that is not meant for young children should not happen.
Let's Talk about Squid Games and children's exposure.

STEM AND SUSTAINABILITY
STEM MAD through Sustainability
What an amazing journey it has been in the area of STEM this year. For the first time in many years, the St James Community submitted 3 STEM MAD projects and were delighted when all 3 projects made the finals.
The students worked hard to create 3 minutes short movies to showcase their projects and on Thursday 14th of October, the 3 teams practiced in an online STEM MAD event. Congratulations to Olivia.V, Venetia and Sumire as their QR Scavenger Hunt were runner ups in 2 categories. We were extremely proud of all the teams and the hard work they put into their projects.
A VERY BIG thank you to Ms Corio and Miss Black for all their support and help in putting together the final submissions
We look forward to St James being part of STEM MAD 2022!!!!!
