Principal's Update

Paul Clohesy

Dear families,

Welcome to Term 4, a term we hope and pray sees us all back onsite together and life return to some level of normality.

Thankfully we managed to finally run the GAT this week, congratulations to all students who sat the 3 hour long assessment, particularly in a year where their learning has been so disrupted.

Return to school schedule Term 4

We are looking forward to seeing all students return to onsite learning at some stage over the next week with Year 12 already here, Year 11 joining them Wednesday then Year 7 back to onsite learning next Monday.

Year 10 students studying a VCE Unit 2 Class may attend onsite for those classes and if required can remain at school for the day with supervision provided and log in to their other remote classes.

As you would already be aware, Year 8 and 9 student will be onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Year 10 Thursdays and Fridays until Tuesday October 26 when all students return to full-time onsite learning.

Our initial focus when students return will be on them reconnecting with peers and adjusting back into a more normal school life.

Our teachers will also be monitoring the academic level individual students return to school with. We are fully aware that some students find remote learning difficult and may have fallen behind in their studies while others may have maintained or even increased their progress in some subjects.

Once this data has been collected then strategies will be implemented to assist students to catch up on work and knowledge that they may have missed.

We are still planning on doing everything possible to enable the students to perform our musical and have undertaken some preliminary planning around this – before finalising any date or time we just need to wait on advice from Catholic Education Ballarat that will allow the performance to take place and, hopefully, have an audience to view it.

We are in a similar position with our Year 12 Graduation. Planning is currently underway that includes organising an event with parents and carers and one without.

We are hoping that by November 18 parents and carers will be able to attend College functions, however, we are unsure if this will be the case and if it is, we are not sure what density limits will be imposed. We will continue to communicate with our students and families about these functions as more information is provided.

I hope that lots of families managed to get away together over the school holidays and we look forward to the students returning motivated and rejuvenated to finish the school year on a positive note.
