GRADE 1S

Mrs Waugh

This week in 1S, the students have been hard at work learning about lots of exciting new concepts.

In Reading, we have explored what the difference is between facts and opinions. We have looked at non fiction texts to find some interesting facts and form some of our own opinions. The students applied their knowledge about opinions as they started learning how to persuade someone to agree with us when they are writing.

Dinosaurs is the theme for Humanities and Science this term. We have been enthusiastically sharing our knowledge of dinosaurs with each other in our google meets. The students have learned some interesting facts about the Mesozoic Era of the dinosaurs and the role of a Paleontologist, a scientist that studies dinosaurs.

Also this week, some of our class members were very creative and made robots in our optional design challenge.

We are looking forward to seeing each other back in the classroom next week in person and having lots of fun!
