La mia famiglia - My family

CONGRATULAZIONI from Signorina Occhiuto and myself to our amazing Year 7 students for the innovative, fascinating and exceptional family posters and videos they created for their major assessment in Italian. The focus was on literacy, innovation, recycling, engagement, verbal and non-verbal communication as well as collaboration. The family element was meant to provide a means for our incredible students to involve their own family members in the production of a poster, using repurposed materials from around the home, and an entertaining video to present their family, all in Italian.

Year 7 met the challenge with success, a fun spirit and a heap of enthusiasm. As a teacher of 34 years, 25 of those being at Cecil Hills High School, I would like to thank all of the students in Year 7 and their families for providing many hours of entertainment through their hard work, passion and dedication to make this assessment an outstanding success. During challenging times we need to look to those who will keep us positive. To the whole Cecil family, GRAZIE, thank you! Now enough on that.

Here are just a few of the countless comments about this assessment from our Year 7 students:

It was one of the best assessments tasks I have had in Year 7. We were challenged to create both a poster and a video which spoke about our families.  We worked hard and practiced our pronunciation and writing skills to make the paragraph "La Mia Famiglia". From there we had to design our poster with the paragraph on it in a creative way including lots of pictures and symbols which represent our family. For the video, we had to use hand gestures, facial expressions, images and even props to help show our video in a non-verbal way.  Overall, I think everyone in the class had a fantastic time working on the video and poster and we could not have asked for a better assignment to complete. by Kareem A

Doing this assessment was actually really fun!  My whole family got involved and I got to learn things that I didn't know before.  It was also a really fun assessment to do during lockdown and it was more on the creative side compared to other assessments that I got. Overall, the poster and video were really fun to make and I enjoyed making them a lot.    by Emilia M

I found this assessment task extremely fun! This is because I had the opportunity to be creative and innovative with designing my own poster and adding little details in my "La Mia Famiglia" paragraph and video.  I really loved and enjoyed completing this assessment task.😊    by Isabelle L

I had fun completing this task and it was a good way of showing you my family and myself.  by Keyaan S

Buongiorno!   Normally assessments are boring and drag on for ages, but this particular assessment was really enjoyable and fun to do! My family was involved with this assessment. They were the audience for my video and they liked seeing how I went with speaking in a language I wasn't familiar with at all from the start. this assessment was an awesome assessment to do during lockdown because it had a creative side to it,  as well as the teachers being able to assess us on our skills.  Thank you to Mrs Koloveros for organising this amazing assessment.  I learnt a lot from it.  😃  by Jade C

I had so much fun doing this Italian assessment since I got to express my family to Mrs Koloveros. I also got a chance to show off my creativity for what I have been doing during lockdown.   by Mia A

In my opinion, I found this assessment very fun. It was enjoyable as I could put my own touch on the project and I found it better than doing a written exam.

This assessment was very fun to do and I  loved how I could be creative with how I wanted to set out my video and poster.  I also loved how I was able to involve my family in the assessment.  When I was making my poster, I would show them the photos I chose and explain why I chose them.

Because this assessment was about my family, once I was done I got them to sit down and I showed them my poster and video all together.

I loved how this assessment was about something all of us could relate to. Our families are very close to our hearts and are always with us. I loved how we got to honour our family and we all got to show our loved ones how much we cared about them.

I thought this was an awesome assessment task to do during lockdown, especially since all of us were at home with our families.  Thank you Miss for creating such an enjoyable assessment.  by Daniella G

Thank you to all those students who provided a lot of positive feedback about this assessment. It was a real pleasure marking this assessment. A special congratulations from Signorina Occhiuto and myself to the 75 students who achieved an overall “A” grade.  BRAVISSIMI!
