I cannot believe that 2021 school year is almost completed. A lot has happened this year and it has been another one with many twists, turns and surprises.
Psalm 146 is a praise song that declares the importance of putting one’s faith in God. The ancient song writer particularly reminds us not to put our trust in powerful leaders but in the God who brings justice and restoration.
This has been a strong personal hope for me, as well as a motivator to work for what is right – not for what is easy. This image of God has shaped my view of the world. I try to recognize those who are not ‘in the midst’ of things, but those who are on the edges – looking in. I try to listen to their voices and to hear their stories. I often learn most from these people.
We all lead, and we all have authority and influence in some set of circumstances. This psalm reminds us to keep our priorities right and to exercise that influence as inclusively and justly as possible.
With prayers and love to the KWS community,
Rosalie
