Senior School Sport &

Co-curricular

Mr Joe Priest, Head of Sport & Co-curricular

It has been a pleasure over the last fortnight to see smiling faces running around in various different sports. After a week of sport training returning to the lives of the students, we are now gearing up to include community sport competitions into the weekly routine.

I would ask that everyone does their best to keep up to date with the communication from the various sports. Currently this is occurring via email and through the individual TeamApp pages. Each of the different local associations have a unique context and therefore different rules to follow to ensure our involvement is done is a COVID-safe manner. Further to this we also have different return dates for each of our sports as each association have set dates that allow them to complete all required planning and administration. We will endeavor to keep all parents and students as up to date as possible in this everchanging world of COVID guidelines.

Well-done to our 1st boys' basketball team who were the first school side to play in a competitive fixture this term. They started strongly with Abra Wilson hitting his first three-point attempt to open the scoring. Oscar McLaughlin, Harry Gutterson and James Noble quickly got to work defensively creating plenty of turnovers. A very positive way to start the season and return from the COVID-enforced break. From there the team never looked back and played some excellent basketball to come away with a strong win. It is good to be back into competitive sport. We look forward to all sports getting back onto the court or field. The cricketers will be next with a full round scheduled for Saturday.

Kinross Wolaroi's Triathlon program was recently featured in the October Newsletter of Triathlon NSW, who approached MIC Penny Chandler for an interview. The story celebrates the opportunity for students to enjoy triathlon as a school sport as well as the School's connection with the community through Orange Triathlon Club.
