Junior School Science

The students in the Junior School have some exciting events to look forward to in Science this term, including Science Week in Week 5. The theme for Science Week 2019 is Destination Moon – More missions, more Science!

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing and first moonwalk, our Year 3 and Year 5 students have been tuning in to their Earth and Space Sciences units.

As a provocation, the students in Year 5, were taken into outer space this week through the use of virtual reality. Their wondering will drive their inquiries, as they explore ‘Our Place in Space’, and how Australia’s space tracking stations played a vital supporting role, relaying to the world the first televised images of Neil Armstrong stepping onto the Moon’s surface. The students in Year 3 will have an excursion to the Planetarium later this term.
