Wellbeing Report

LGBTI/Inclusive Youth Ambassador Program:

The LGBTI/Inclusive Youth Ambassador Program concluded last week with a small group of students completing their evaluations and sharing a pizza lunch together. This successful program involved our students working with the Greater Dandenong Youth and Family Services to implement two projects to create a more welcoming and inclusive school environment.

This included putting LGBTI posters around the school promoting inclusion and the use of rainbow stickers to identify LGBTI friendly books in the library. There is also a display in the wellbeing space highlighting these projects.

Year 9 Community Leadership Day (City Tour):

To conclude the Community Leadership program, Year 9 students participated in a city tour with The Salvation Army. The workshops explored the causes, effects and stereotypes of youth homelessness. DVDs and group activities were used to help the students understand the cause and effect of homelessness. The groups were then taken on a 40 minute guided walking city tour. Students visited locations where people ‘sleep rough.' They also participated in a public speaking workshop to further develop their confidence and skills engaging an audience. Well done Year 9s!
