Around the School

Welcome

We love to celebrate our students and showcase what they have been up to, both inside and outside the classroom! Below are a few things that happened over the last two weeks.

Buddy reading

The best way to start our day - connections with people and books. Year 6 and Kindergarten students love their buddy reading time.

Beacon

Beacon's Leadership Development Day was a fun day where students participated in activities to get to know each other and develop their leadership, public speaking and networking skills.

Year 7 music

Students had a visit from Katie (woodwind tutor) who did an instrument demonstration. Students had the opportunity to hear various instruments and ask questions. Year 7 students are currently learning about different types of orchestral instruments and studying how sound is made through a unit called The Sounds of Music.

Tourism Excursion

VET Tourism students had a day in Echuca developing their knowledge about tourism last week. This excursion is designed to help students provide visitor information, which is their first competency task in their coursework.

Students visited the Information Centre and were grateful to meet Kathryn Mackenzie, CEO of Echuca Moama Tourism who presented about the Echuca Moama tourism industry.

Students then visited a variety of accommodation providers in the area and learnt about the differences in quality and types of accommodation offered.

They also participated in activities at the Port Of Echuca Discovery Centre and Holden Museum Echuca to develop their knowledge and skills of providing visitor information.

A fantastic experience in our beautiful town!

SAKG

Our Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden students are having a fantastic time with all our delicious school grown produce! Last week they made Homemade tomato sauce to take home to their families.

The recipe is below.

CLRS Johnno's Run

Primary students had two exciting visitors at Assembly last week. Dave and Jimmy from Community Living & Respite Services Inc. shared about the upcoming Johnno's Run Launch on Monday 2 March.

Families are invited to join in on the night and learn more about how they can get involved in Johnno's Run 2020, building homes for people with disability.

Flyers have been sent home with Primary students and are available at main reception for Secondary students.

Please RSVP to events@clrs.org.au if you will be attending.

Bruce visits the Primary School

Bruce the sheep went on an incursion today with the Year 9/10 Agriculture boys to meet the primary students. They were a big fan and thought he felt a little like carpet!
