THE ARTS

ALL SHOOK UP

On Tuesday 15 September, we celebrated the success of the show with a cast/crew/band party in the PAC. Everyone who contributed to the production in any capacity was presented with a certificate, photo CD and a souvenir program.  It was great to see everyone back together again and reminisce about the fun times we had putting the show together. Thank you to everyone who brought a plate of food to share. We filled our tummies, to say the least!

Students who were absent for the party, can collect their certificates from Miss Cumming or Ms Goode in the PAC.

We also have a number of lost property items that were found backstage or in the change rooms after production so please remind your son or daughter to pop into the PAC to check if anything belongs to them.

We are hoping to receive some nominations for the Lyrebird Youth Theatre Awards which will be held on Sunday 13 December.  We’ll keep you posted in regards to this.

An email has been sent to all parents regarding the authorisation of photographic images of the students. If this could be signed and returned to school as soon as possible, it would be very much appreciated.

We may call on some cast members during Term 4 to perform as part of the October Arts Festival and for the Grade 6 Orientation Day so keep a look out on Compass and remind your son/daughter to check our Facebook page.

We hope that everyone has now caught up on sleep and are back in a more productive routine with homework. Enjoy the term break everyone.

OCTOBER ARTS FESTIVAL

Monday 12 October to Friday 23 October

The Arts Department has begun preparations for the October Arts Festival.   The festival is a celebration of the artistic skills of our students here at Lilydale High School.

Students wishing to enter an artwork into the October Arts Prize should submit their work to an Art teacher by Tuesday 6 October.

We will also have a variety of students performing musical, dance and drama performances every lunchtime in the Middle School Quadrangle during the festival.

We look forward to the celebrations taking place, the second week of Term 4.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Riley Wiggett 10.91 who is our Artist of the Month.

Riley received a certificate of commendation to acknowledge this wonderful achievement and his work has now been displayed in the Arts Wing.

Well done, Riley!

Also, a very big congratulations to Sarah Hardy, who will yet again pop on her Head of Arts cap and continue to lead the Arts Department next Term. I wish you the very best of luck.
