LITERACY & NUMERACY WEEK

Two weeks ago, students across the entire school took part in a number of fantastic activities to help celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week. Headed by Mrs Laura Kaspar, students partook in a live demonstration of ‘Beat the Teacher’ to test their ability to answer mathematical problems quickly.

During this challenge, students were encouraged to step up to the table in front of their peers and attempt a maths problem that was given to them and a Maths teacher of their choice at the same time!

Many students ended up beating their teacher to come away with the chocolates on the day.

Congratulations to all students who participated!

EVENT START SMART

Visit from the Commonwealth Bank

On Wednesday 16 September, a number of Year 10 General Maths classes took part in the ‘Event Start Smart’ Commonwealth Bank workshop which was conducted at the school.

The workshop was highly interactive and challenged students to ask ‘why?’ before they buy.

By exploring the sometimes overwhelming influences that affect their decisions as consumers, students were equipped with practical spending strategies to help save money.

The Smart Spending program also helped educate students to make responsible and discerning personal financial decisions.

A huge thank you to Mrs Julie Colyer for organising the incursion and well done to all of the students who engaged in the workshop and represented the school well on the day.
