STUDENT LEADERS NEWS

SCHOOL CAPTAINS

The due date for Year 12 Yearbook quotes was last week.  We were pleased that nearly all managed to submit theirs.   Quotes are a new initiative this year and we hope they become a tradition that continues.

We've also begun to finalise School Council submissions as well as our End of Year report for the Salamander magazine.  Only a few weeks left for us now.  Let's hope they don't go too quickly!

YEAR 12 CAPTAINS

For the Year 12’s the last two weeks of term have been consumed by the conclusion of each of our classes content and multiple SAC’s. However as each of our courses and internal assessments are complete, focus now shifts to revision for our exams.

We hope everyone has a productive study break, and we look forward to seeing the class of 2015 back next term for our final two weeks of high school.

YEAR 10 CAPTAINS

Wow, the end of Term 3 is already upon us and for us, that means only one more term until we officially enter VCE. It has been a busy term, but it has been one filled with enjoyment and challenges.

Term 3 began with the build up to our Year 10 Formal, and what a night it was. Lots of work was put into the preparation and the work was paid off. The night was amazing and an experience everyone will cherish and remember.

It was a very important time, in terms of course selection. We had various information sessions, in order to make the right choice for our future. There are many subjects on offer and now is our chance to take charge of our study paths and chose the subjects we enjoy and have passion for.

We also had the school production that was finally performed after six months of hard work and dedication. Many talented students from our year level had lead roles and roles in the chorus and did an amazing job, performing a Broadway quality show.

Term 3 also comprised of Peer Support Camp, which was an emotionally challenging experience, but one we will all remember forever. We all took away vital values and skills that we aim to apply into the Peer Support Program in Year 11.

There were many successful sporting outings, and all teams for Lilydale were represented proudly. Athletics carnival was a huge success, with many athletes taking part. We also had successful teams in Football, Basketball, and Netball. We are proud of all who participated and gave their all.

Year 10 Students undertaking the Business Management VCE subject had their first 'Market Day' this term. There was a variety of stalls with brilliant advertising and a great, buzzing atmosphere.  Over $4,000 was raised and all the money has been donated to charity.

Overall Year 10 continues to shine through and develop as a year level. Congratulations on all achievements this term and good luck for future exams and the final term.

YEAR 9 CAPTAINS

What a term this has been! Term 3 has flown by this year thanks to the many amazing activities and events that have occurred these past 10 weeks involving Year 9 students.

Firstly and probably the most relevant to our year level was City Experience. Over the last 4 weeks, Year 9 students have been getting themselves to, from and around our great city, visiting many amazing places including: The Shrine of Remembrance, the Eureka Skydeck, the Old Melbourne Gaol and the Queen Victoria Market. As people that get lost in Eastland, we were a little worried about spending three whole days of independently exploring Melbourne, however the teachers involved made sure we were all very prepared, confident and on track. It was a great success with everyone staying safe, respectful and having fun.

We also had the school production, 'All Shook Up'. After 5 months of hard work by both the students and teachers, it turned out to be an amazing three nights where not even a power failure was able to stop the show from going on. Many of us were lucky enough to see the show and we were very glad that we did. It was entertaining, funny and everyone ended up singing along to the groovy Elvis hits.

We also held our own 'Lilydale High, The Voice' competition showing off the amazing talent here at Lilydale High School with one talented Year 9 winning. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Finally, we also held our annual Athletics Carnival in which we saw the incredible sporting skills of our peers. It was an incredibly exciting day with fun had by all!

This term has been a breeze and we can't wait to see what Term 4 will hold. We are very eager not only to find out our subjects for 2016, but also to sit our very first exams at the end of the year. Have a safe and happy holidays, and we will a see you all next term.

YEAR 8 CAPTAINS

Term 3 was a blast, you couldn't imagine a term that went any quicker. So many crazy and exciting things have happened such as the Course Selections, Market Day and the production of 'All Shook Up' made for a fantastic term at Lilydale High School.

Athletics Carnival was incredible as well as the chance to also be included in the Athletic Development Program.

Science Works and the successful boys and girls State Netball teams were also highlights.  And for some, the best times of their lives.

Mr Neuman also took out the Year 8 Table Tennis team, who had a great day.

Subject selection was a bit challenging. To be the one responsible for choosing our next step at Lilydale High School was a feeling we have never experienced.  My peers certainly enjoyed the chances offered and can't wait to experience Term 4!

YEAR 7 CAPTAINS

During Term 3 we were involved in many sports including basketball, table tennis, hockey and badminton.

We also had a number of Common Assessment Tasks to complete. These were challenging and exiting for some people but for us they were dreaded majorly!

The school also performed the awesome musical, 'All Shook Up'.

We had many students compete in aerobics competitions in the city and our school also had the annual Market Day. This was really fun because we got to eat lots of different food.

Overall, we really enjoyed Term 3 and how quickly it went.

In Term 4 we are looking forward to the Eastern Region Basketball, Athletics competitions and the End of Year Program where we are going to Luna Park and enjoy lots of summer weather!
