PFA News

Hello everybody,

Since the last time I put anything in the newsletter, the PFA has had our Annual General Meeting. The list of committee members is on this page, along with contact details of where you can get hold of us. If you have any ideas for fundraising, social events or what the PFA might want to spend raised funds on, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We are here for the whole school community and everybody is welcome.

One easy way you can become involved, and help the school community is with Helping Hands. Helping Hands is a fostering program aimed at strengthening and assisting an already powerful John Monash Science School community in various areas and times of need. If you are able to translate this into any other languages from our school community, please could you send us an email. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

At the beginning of the school holidays, we held our major fundraiser for the year - a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in South Oakleigh. Those parents and students who cooked and served thousands (or what felt like thousands) of sausages had a great day. Huge thanks to Anne Cakmar, our Events Coordinator, who did an amazing job organising everything for the day. Thank you, too, to all the volunteers who helped to make the day such a success. The total raised for JMSS on the day was $1,018! Everybody involved should be very proud of a fantastic effort. A special mention, too, to one student who travelled to Bunnings on the bus, did his shift and travelled home again, all to help out his school. I won’t name him and embarrass him, but “You know who you are”.

There are lots of events coming up, and any help is gratefully received. If you would like to come to our meetings, we would love to meet you. The PFA is a fantastic community, which is growing all the time. If you are unable to make the meetings, the Facebook Group is also a really useful resource where parents can discuss what is happening at the school.

Hopefully we will see lots of you on Tuesday at 7pm in the staff room.

See you there,

Esther (PFA President)
