Transitioning from school
As we draw near to the end of the year, students may wish to leave school for a number of reasons including; other VCE and VCAL providers, full time TAFE, Apprenticeships or full time work.
From January 1 2010, the Government brought in new requirements for the school leaving age;
Before a student is allowed to leave school they must satisfactorily complete Year 10 and until the age of 17, they must be in some form of full time training or employment.
Any students wishing to leave school before these requirements are met, must put in a request for exemption to the Regional Director in consultation with Lilydale High School.
All students leaving school before the end of Year 12 are required to fill in an exit form (obtainable from the School Office) and complete a Careers or MIPs appointment.
Leaving school or not attending school can result in non-payment of Centrelink benefits.
VET in 2018
Letters have been sent home outlining the location of the VET course and the materials fees payable.
VET fees are payable to Lilydale High School no later than Monday 4 December.
If you are completing a VET subject in 2018 and have not received the VET fee letter, please contact the Careers Office ASAP.
Students are encouraged to check the window outside the Careers Office to see if their USI number and initial VET application form has been received.
VET Orientation Day
Students completing a VET subject in 2018 should have received details about their VET Orientation session.
VET Orientation is a compulsory session where students are informed about the requirements of the course and may be required to complete important enrolment paperwork.
Students are required to bring a pen, paper to write on, their USI and any other material requested by the VET provider.
Most orientation sessions will be run on Wednesday 6 December, however, students are advised to check the orientation paperwork to confirm dates, times and locations of their orientation session.
1st Year VET at Box Hill Institute
Students who are undertaking a Box Hill Institute course for the first time next year are required to complete the online expression of interest form.
Students are then to print off the confirmation page and obtain a parents signature. The form must then be taken to the Box Hill Institute Orientation session.
This form is obtainable when students express interest in a Box Hill course (follow the link below) or blank copies are available at Careers.
