Room 6

ANZAC DAY

In room 6 we have been learning about ANZAC Day. We discussed what it means to Australians and New Zealanders. We found out why it is an important day for us to commemorate and the different ways the people of Australia and New Zealand remember and reflect on this National day. We commemorated ANZAC Day by making some art work.

Lessons will resume next week, on 12th May, for identified students from non-English speaking backgrounds, who were part of the program in Term 1.

There will be an additional group of Reception students commencing EALD lessons from Term 2. Parents of these students will receive a note from me explaining a little about this program.

Japanese News

Konnichiwa!

Did you know that Yayoi Kusama, a very famous Japanese artist, is sometimes called ‘the princess of polka dots'? Although she makes lots of different types of art - paintings, sculptures, performances and installations - they all have one

thing in common.... DOTS!

Galler

The middle primary students have been learning about Yayoi and her unique style of art. We read the story of Yayoi's life; 'From Here To Infinity' and we viewed some of her most famous works. 'The Obliteration Room' being a popular one amongst the students.

We then designed some 'Yayoi Kusama' inspired art of our own. It's been fantastic to see how Yayoi's simple style of art has inspired many students. We've also loved receiving pieces of art from those students learning at home! We are creating a gallery of them in the Japanese Room window. Why not have look next time you go past 🙂
