Walking Busses

Every October, Walk to School encourages Victorian primary school kids to walk or ride to and from school. The Walk to School program promotes regular physical activity in Victorian primary school students. It helps kids and their families establish active routines for life. It also supports primary schools, local councils and communities to make active travel easy, safe and accessible.

It’s been a wet start to Term 4, which unfortunately saw the first Prep-2 Recess walk cancelled on Tuesday this week, however the walking busses have been a good way for students to join in the initiative to walk part of the way to school! We hope that the weather on Friday will be better for the 3-6 Lunchtime walk. There is still time for you to sign permission for your students to join in the recess and lunchtime supervised walks, please log on to Compass and sign the permission note. We cannot take any students off campus without Compass consent.

With our combined distances walked on the Recess and Lunchtime walks we will be aiming to see how far around Australia we can get. The more students that join us on these walks, the further we can go. We will be aiming to get a map put up in the corridor near the office as soon as possible so that everyone can track our progress.

The Walk to School Busses are running on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning, with drop off between 8:15-8:30am. The drop off points are on the corner of Anakie Rd and Ruhamah Ave, the corner of Anakie Rd and Braund Ave, and the corner of Rollins Rd and Ruhamah Ave. You do not have to sign up for these walks and we hope to get as many students as possible so that we can go in the draw to win some fantastic prizes for the school. Please ensure that there is a staff member at the drop off point before leaving your children.

A huge THANK YOU to the staff who have volunteered their time to supervise these morning, recess and lunchtime walks. Initiatives like this would not be possible without you!

Thank you, Jennah Sobevski.

Indonesian Word of the Week

To help support our Indonesian program across the school, we will be doing the ‘Indonesian Word of the Week’.  It is displayed in every classroom across the school each week and used in general discussions between students and teachers. Perhaps you can then try and integrate them into your conversations at home as much as possible.

Captain's Comment

It has been a fantastic start to Term 4, it’s great to see that all the students are settling back in and getting ready for the busy term ahead. Don’t forget to bring hats to school since it is becoming hotter outside. Icy poles will also be sold for $1 on Tuesdays and Thursday. Some exciting upcoming events are the ⅚ Lightning Premiership, the ¾ Camp and lots more.
