Art and Craft News Term 1 2020
We started off the year by exploring our school deadly values using the “Exquisite Corpse” art game. All students’ from Year One to Six collaborated with their class mates to create their imaginary art works.
Here are some quotes from students:
Elodie 1/2: “Everyone worked together to make the art works”
Jarron 1/2: “Doing your best work with no scribbles “
Willa 1/2: “We trust that kids will do good art to our pictures”
We also had time to work on our art folios exploring typography and different themes as chosen by each class.
Aviva our, TPS gardening teacher, has started working with all students in the art room as our artist in residence. The art project will document the process and seasonality of botanical specimens growing within Wurundjeri lands. It incorporates the teachings that are part of Aunty Terri’s curriculum and Aviva’s Foodweb Education program. We will focus on the plants we have on site and illustrate these through watercolour, pen, graphite, ink and pastel. It will involve all students from Years One to Six as a whole school collaborative work on paper. The work will then be installed in our school building.
Students have made plant studies in the garden as well as in the art room.
We also used a microscope to focus on the finer details of the plants.
Prep students are exploring plant rubbings in their art making.
Art club runs each Monday at lunchtime. All students are welcome to attend.
I also welcome all parents and carers to assist in the art room at any time. Please sign in at the office beforehand to let staff know you are visiting the art room. You can also contact me on the email below.
