Grade 5/6 Students

Celebrating our fantastic Fives and sensational Sixes!

5/6A - Mr E

What a fantastic start to 2023! Everyone has settled into 5/6A so quickly, and it feels like we are in Term 3 already, considering how we are all getting along and able to work together. This week we have focused on developing our classroom code of conduct. We discussed how this document would help us get along and set behaviour standards for our class. After brainstorming ideas in small groups, we came together to vote on our class values, beliefs and norms. The students have done an incredible job and showed great maturity while discussing and acknowledging the different perspectives in our class. A great start to 2023 5/6A!

5/6B - Mr Sankovic

In 5/6B this week, we have spent a lot of time getting to know each other and learning about all the likes, dislikes and talents the students in the class have. We worked together with 5/6C to form our ‘Survivor tribes’. Students created a tribe flag, motto, name, chant or song and symbol. It was fantastic to see the students from both classes interacting together and working as a team!

5/6C - Miss Jackie

In 5/6C this week, we have spent a lot of time getting to know each other and learning about all the likes, dislikes and talents the students in the class have. We worked together with 5/6B to form our ‘Survivor tribes’. Students created a tribe flag, motto, name, chant or song and symbol. It was fantastic to see the students from both classes interacting together and working as a team!

5/6D - Mr Mitch

In 5/6D, we embarked on our first week of school for 2023. We took the opportunity to get to know one another, playing various games and enjoying the company of our new peers. We rewrote The Zones of Regulation chart using synonyms of words. This will help us to regulate our emotions throughout the year.

In addition to rewriting The Zones of Regulation display, we set classroom expectations for the students and teachers. All students had an equal opportunity to share how they learn best and the environment that is conducive for learning for them.

5/6E - Miss Lee

On behalf of all of us, welcome to the first Newsletter from 56E! One thing is for sure, the students are enthusiastic, entertaining and engaging, so we have been aptly named 56E! It is already clear that we will have an amazing year of learning experiences. We have spent our first few days learning about each other and how we want our classroom to look, feel and sound like in order to best support reaching our learning goals for 2023.

Our photos this week show Joel K, who has been kind enough to share his All About Me poster, while Isla G has shared her thoughts on what a classroom should feel like and how students should treat each other. With the thoughts and feelings of the entire class collated, we will next develop a list of preferred class rules and behaviours to ensure that everyone in the room has a fantastic year. Have a wonderful rest of the week and just a final little reminder to bring school hats for outdoor play/PE.
