Upcoming Events – Action needed

A list of things we need parents and carers to do to ensure their student can attend events, camps or excursions

First Day for Students 2023

The first day for students in 2023 is Monday 30th January.  Foundation students will not attend  Wednesdays until after Labour Day long weekend.  Their first Wednesday at school will be 15th March.

Meet the Teacher Evening

Don't forget we have Our Meet The Teachers Evening happening on Wednesday 8th February 4:00pm until 6:00 pm.

This is an opportunity for parents to visit classrooms, find out about programs and routines, ask questions and get to know the teacher. It is also an opportunity to share information about your child with the teacher.

When parents and teachers work together the educational outcomes are always better for children. Benefits of a strong parent teacher partnership also include maintaining the wellbeing of children, parents feeling more confident in the teaching and learning process and teachers feeling supported by parents. As it is very early in the school year teachers will not be able to talk about children's progress at this time.

If you have confidential information to share with the teacher be aware that there will be other parents and children in the room and it may be better to organise a separate time to meet with the class teacher.

Grade 3 - 6 Swim Lessons

Dear Parents/Carers,

2023 Senior Swimming Program

31st January – 7th February

Trafalgar Outdoor Pool

A key focus at Trafalgar Primary School in 2023 is supporting students to lead happy, healthy, and active lives. One of the ways that we plan to deliver this vision is by increasing the opportunities that we provide our students through our Physical Education and Sports programs. As part of this plan, we are currently developing a more comprehensive swimming program for our senior students (Grades 3-6) that seeks to both enhance their water safety capabilities, and better prepare our students for school swimming competitions.

Accordingly, between the 31st January – 7th February all senior students at Trafalgar Primary School will participate in our new senior swimming program at the Trafalgar Outdoor Pool. Our senior swimming program accommodates students of all abilities because the program changes depending on the students skills and past experiences. For example, some students may be learning about basic water safety, while others may be developing more advanced skills, such as rescue skills and advanced swimming strokes. During the first session of the program, the qualified AustSwim instructors will use the pool time to evaluate each students ability. Students will then be grouped according to their abilities to ensure that they are learning with others at the same developmental stage. During the final session of the program, students will be assessed against the Victorian Water Safety Certificate, which describes the specific competencies that should be achieved by the time students reach the end of primary school.
