Middle School Report

Middle School News

As we near the end of Term 1 I would like to acknowledge all the hard work and effort our staff and students have made this term. There appears a real purpose and positive energy directed on student learning. We see students working diligently in class to do their best to learn and complete work.

Our Impact sessions have been a great success where the focus is on specific needs for the particular year level.

At Year 9 IMPACT: The focus has been on career action plans which led into our Morrisby Career Interviews where students are counselled on how to set plans for future career pathways by the friendly team of professionals at Morrisby.

We had a mental health session where students had the opportunity to choose an activity of their choice and spend the session interacting with students other than those from their normal classes.

In Term 2 we will have two special sessions one from Elevate Study Education on time management and study skills. The Victorian Police will also come to school to speak about cyber bullying / consent and the law.

At Year 10 IMPACT: Our focus for Term 1 was on preparing our students for Work Experience which takes place in Week 9 of Term 2 June 19 – 23.

Our Year 10’s have had their Elevate Study Session and we also look forward to the Victorian Police coming in to talk to our Year 10’s on a range of issues that relate to this particular age group.

We value our partnerships with external community agencies and feel it is a positive way for our students to view their community and understand the supports available.

As always Term 1 has had its challenges – this has given us all a chance to reflect and more importantly work together to support each other.

On behalf of the Middle School team I would like to thank families for their positive support of us and for understanding the need for us all to work together to support our young people in Year 9 and 10.

Kind regards

Mr Vass and Middle School Team
