Dear College staff, families and community.

This will be our last Wrap-up for the year. Our office closes for the Christmas break at the end of today, though there will still be some staff around keeping the Farm going.

Over the last week our Year 10s have been engaging in work experience and I hope they have found it useful. We are noticing that employers are using work experience as an opportunity to get a look at potential employees and apprentices.

My thanks to Amelia and the team for their efforts in making sure the work placements were arranged, safe and productive.

Over the last few weeks we have been working on staffing for next year. Things can change in an instant when staff take on opportunities that open up. We have a number of staff leaving us next year including

  • Dean Pfitzner - 6 months at WACoA Narrogin as Head of Trades.
  • Paul Dyson -  6 months at Newton Moore SHS as Deputy Principal.
  • Lauren Day - 12 months leave.

Next year we will be welcoming new staff to the College;

  • Patrick Swallow- Teacher Agriculture.
  • Margaret Henderson- Teacher English.
  • Craig Sullivan- Assistant Farm Manager.
  • Belynda Quilty- Technical Officer Dairy.
  • Vanessa Forbes- First Cook.

ABC Heywire Competition

Congratulations to Michael Kilrain for winning a high commendation in the ABC Heywire competition with his memoir being about a bushfire incident.

Thankyou for 2022

Finally, can I thank our entire College community for their support and efforts over 2022. Like every year it has been busy and we have dealt with some challenges along the way, but throughout, our staff, students, parents and wider community have worked together to keep Harvey Ag the high functioning school that it is.

I wish you all a safe and restful Christmas and New Year period and look forward to working with you all in 2023.

Take care

Steve
