SCHOOLS CENSUS

The Australian state and federal governments provide significant financial support for the education of students in our school system based on data we provide through the Census.

These census collections also provide valuable information used to plan for the future educational needs of our schools in terms of the administration of programs and provision of resources.

There are two Census collection dates each year:-

February Census: Conducted on the third Friday of February in 2023.  This data is also used to complete the Australian Government's annual Address Collection for Students and Parents and provides Student Background Data to state government agencies for external testing such as Naplan.

August Census: Conducted on the first Friday of August this year. Provides detailed statistical and demographic information on enrolments, student characteristics (including NCCD Students with Disability, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students and students on a visa) and aggregate staff details to the Australian government through the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (AGDESE) Census SchoolsHub.
