Abbie the Chaplain

At the end of the semester, we will say goodbye to Abbie our school chaplain.  Even though Abbie has been with us for a short time only, she has been able to help support children in their health and wellbeing.  We would like to wish Abbie all the best for the future as she starts to focus on the next chapter of her life attending university to become a psychologist. The school is currently working with our chaplain provider in order to hire another person.

SWPBS

This term, Mr Russell and Miss Graham have been visiting classrooms and supporting students and staff with our SWPBS expectations by completing lessons and asking for students to provide examples e.g. walking around the school, keeping our hands, feet and bodies to ourselves and telling the truth.  This is rewarded with tokens and games, based around the expectation e.g. following the teacher's instructions = “Simon Says”.  Next term, Mr Russell and Miss Graham will continue to work with the staff and students in SWPBS.

As term one draws to an end we look towards Term Two by improving our SWPBS practice. In Term Two, members from the wellbeing team will take part in SWPBS workshops provided by the Department of Education.  Creating an action plan, the team will support staff with creating individualised classroom expectations, creating a scope and sequence that supports positive behaviour in the learning environment and providing students opportunities to make video models for our school.  We will have our SWPBS Coach from the Department of Education visit the school to help support the growth of SWPBS.

If you have any questions about the SWPBS Program please contact Mr Russell via the office.
