Grade 3/4 News

Loving learning every day with Miss Stephan, Mrs Jacobs and Miss Mawby!

Special help from Mr Reid, Mr Hayward, Mrs Harrison and Miss Linda.

Welcome back! What a start to the term for the 3/4 team. In Literacy, we are looking at information texts, in particular, biographies. We have been studying the text features of biographies of interesting and innovative people, such as David Attenborough, Rosa Parks, and Frida Kahlo. We have started to research and draft our own biographies of people we admire, and are planning to put them all together in a book to add to our classroom libraries.

In Maths, we are working on fractions and decimals, learning about fractions as equal parts of a whole, exploring equivalent fractions, and practising addition with decimals.

Our focus for Integrated Studies is Social Justice, and we are learning about what life if like for people with disabilities, and imagining how we might feel if we had to live with those same limitations. We have been looking at organisations that help to support people with disabilities, and the laws we have in place to ensure that everyone is treated with fairness and respect. It has made for some interesting, thoughtful and respectful discussions in our classrooms.

It has been lovely catching up with each other after the holidays, and we are looking forward to a fun and busy term of learning.
