News and Notices

 From the Principal

It has certainly been a busy two weeks, with something on just about every day. Thank you to all the parents who have helped with transport and support at these events. We could not do this without you.

Vaccination Certificates

I recently sent out an email asking for a copy vaccination certificates. if you recieved this email, it means that we do not have a copy of your child's vaccination certificate on record.

Basketball

I have a group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 basketball players who would love the chance to play in a league (as well as a brand new set of basketball kit). We have contacted East Coast Bays Leisure centre and can take part in a league there on a Friday afternoon. It costs $540 to enter a team and we need at least 7 players. We also need to have an adult present at all games who would sit with the players and keep score. I can try and be at games, but cannot always be there. Are there any parents who would be prepared to help me make this happen?

Coatesville Cross Country

I took a small group of children to take part in the Coatesville Cross Country on Wednesday. It was a beautiful day and perfect weather for running. Our children did so well and really held their own competing against the much bigger schools. I was extremely proud of the way that they supported and encouraged each other.

Rippa

After all the rain and cold, we were delighted when rippa day turned out to be bright and sunny. This year we had the largest number of children wanting to take part in the rippa tournament that we have had for a very long time.

AJHS Experience Day

Our Year 6 students have just returned from their experience day at AJHS. This is always such a wonderful opportunity for our children to see what life in a big school would be like.

Plants and plant pots

We are looking for about 50 plastic plant containers/pots to put seedlings, cuttings and little plants into. If you have any colourful plants that you could take cuttings of for the school garden, they would be much appreciated as well.

Library Books

Please can you make sure that you send our library books back to school.

Life Education

The lady who does the teaching for Life Education is ill and has had to postpone our Life Education sessions. We will now be having Life Education in the last week of Term 3 - exact days to be confirmed.

Disco

FORS will be holding a school disco on Friday 23 June from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. We would love parents to come along and buy a burger and a brownie while they have a chat with others form the school community. We are also trialing allowing older siblings who are younger than fourteen to come along to the disco, subject to the same school expectations as our Ridgeview children.

The theme of the disco is Glitz, Glam and Sparkle.

A notice with an order form for food and tickets for the disco will come home soon.

Tina would love to hear from anyone who is happy to help on the night. Speak to her or contact the office.

Tough Guy and Gal

Also known as the Mud Run, this is an event that has become quite popular with our children. It takes place early in Term 3 (1 September) in Kumeu. The children run through a muddy obstacle course and then have a shower afterwards. Every entrant gets a medal. The cost this year is $30, but school will help out if this is beyond your reach.

Please diarise...

We will be holding a breakfast for the members of our school community to celebrate Matariki. It would be wonderful if you could organise to go into work a little late on this day and come down and share some kai with us. Siblings and gradnparents are very welcome to join us.

Spare Clothes

Please can you make sure that your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag - it does not have to be school uniform.

Telephone Number

Our new telephone number is 027 593 5963.
