update from Chris

Hello everyone,

Here is the final newsletter for the term. I would like to thank all of the students for everything they have contributed to the school this term and hope everyone has had a fun time at school.  We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday the 10th of July

End of term two today, Friday 23 June 2.00pm

Term two concludes today, dismissal time will be 2.00pm

We look forward to seeing everyone after the holidays on Monday the 10th of July

Next term we will have a few changes at Taradale PS.

Yesterday I was informed that Adam has been the successful applicant for a teaching position at a school closer to home. On behalf of the school, I would like to thank Adam for his contribution to the school and wish him all the best for the future.

For the remainder of the year I will be teaching the year 5/6 class. Continuing with someone who is familiar to the students and school will make for a smoother transition for the class. For days when I have principal meetings etc. that I must attend I will aim to use a replacement teacher who is familiar to the students such as Charmaine.

Bareroot Fruit Tree Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who bought trees.

The trees will be available for collection from the school on the first day of term - Monday 10 July

Breakfast Club

Currently our Breakfast Club operates on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, but recently we have not had any volunteers on Monday and Tuesday.

To help us advertise the days Breakfast Club is available I have prepared a roster for term three that volunteers can add their names to.

Click on the below link to add your name to the roaster and read more about Breakfast Club

Volunteers in the SAKG garden and cooking classes

Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden classes are held each Thursday, we welcome and encourage adult volunteers to assist with the range of interesting activities that Mel and Mike plan each week. Volunteers don't need any cooking or gardening skills, just an enthusiasm to work with kids who are learning about cooking and gardening. Mel and Mike do all the planning and organising of the sessions and a teacher is also in attendance.  Adult volunteers enable us to divide the students into smaller groups for greater focus on a range of activities throughout a SAKG session. if you would like to know more or to volunteer, please let me know.

Spare clothes

At Taradale PS we spend a lot of time outside learning and playing regardless of the weather. At this time of year that means lots of water and mud!

we recommend a change of clothes, especially for the younger students be packed in their school bag.

We have a supply of spare clothes for children who don't have anything to change into, but we would like donations of the following to add to out stash:

  • size 6-8 tracksuit pants
  • socks for 5-8 year olds
  • boots sized 4-8

Lost and abandoned clothes

Please check the fence and bag hooks today for any clothes you child may have lost.

Children often take of coats and jumpers whilst playing and leave them in the playground`

Some of the clothes on the front fence have been on the fence for most of the term.

Anything left behind at the end of the term will go to the opp shop or spare clothes box.

Hot Compost Workshop -new date Sunday 27 August

We are sorry to say that we've had to make the call to postpone this Sunday's Hot Compost workshop due to the weather forecast. Our new scheduled date is now Sunday 27th August from 1 to 4pm. We think that this timing will be more suitable in terms of the weather, and for preparing hot compost for Spring planting.

If you have any questions or comments about the school, please feel free to contact me.
