Principal's Update

Since starting at MNSC, I have loved getting to know the students and I am very thankful to the parents and community members who have welcomed me and helped me learn more about the school.

The College’s Future Direction

Semester 1 was extra busy with our school undergoing its four yearly review. Our new Strategic Plan has given us a very clear direction forward:

Goal 1: To optimise all students’ learning growth

1.  Develop, document, and embed an agreed Instructional Model.
2.  Improve the use of assessment to meet the learning needs of all students.
3.  Develop and document a viable and guaranteed curriculum.
4.  Develop procedures, protocols and systems to implement a tiered response to ensure all students are learning.

Goal 2: To improve student wellbeing

1.  Develop pro-social processes and programs to support student and staff wellbeing.
2.  Develop procedures, protocols and systems to implement a tiered response to student wellbeing.
3.  Align resourcing to provide targeted support to student wellbeing.

Consequently, we are looking at several changes to our program for 2024, specifically a Social Emotional Learning program for students which will improve student wellbeing, relationships, and school engagement.

Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team has expanded this term after employing a second Assistant Principal this term for Middle School, Ms Melissa Neill. Mr Nic Ryan is also an Assistant Principal, and he oversees Student Wellbeing and Inclusion.

Social Media

If you haven’t already, we recommend that you follow our Facebook page. This is a great way to see what students are doing at school each week, as well as get regular and quick updates about things like school events and the schedule for the following week.

There are several other ways you can contact us:

  • Parents and students can email staff through Compass by looking up the teacher and clicking on the contact button. It then gives you the option to email.
  • By calling the school on 5667 9000 (please note that the General Office is open from 8:30 in the morning)
  • By emailing the school via the school account mirboo.north.sc@edumail.vic.gov.au
  • By visiting the General Office. Please note that all visitors to the school must sign in at the General Office. If you wish to speak face to face with a particular staff member, it is always best to make an appointment as without reasonable notice, we cannot guarantee a staff member’s availability.

Chaplaincy is back at MNSC!

We would like to welcome back Norm De Silva. Norm also serves as a Chaplain at MNPS and has previously worked at MNSC. Many of our students, staff, and families know him well. Thank you to the local church groups and the Chaplaincy Committee for funding the appointment of a Chaplain and for supporting this opportunity for our community. We are greatly appreciative.
