Dear Brookside Family,

 

We hope that you have all enjoyed the activities of the last few weeks, and are looking forward to all that is still to come!

 

2020 School Council - Parent Representative Election

 

All families should this week have received voting instructions for our 2020 School Council Parent Representative election. If you have not received these instructions and ballot papers please contact our reception.

 

All votes must be received by the College by 4pm on Tuesday 10th March. Votes received after this time will not be accepted.

 

Prep Transition

After a very settled and wonderful start by our Prep students, this week marks the first during which they officially began attending school full time. Thank you to all of our Prep families and staff for supporting the children and school during this time of transition.

 

Swimming

Well done to all of the students who attended the Swimming Carnival events earlier this term. Congratulations also to all of the students who represented Brookside College at the 7-9 Division Finals or the 3-6 District Finals. We congratulate you on all of your efforts and dedication, and are very proud of all of your achievements.

 

Sector Assemblies

Congratulations to all of the students who received a “Values” award at our Sector Assemblies last week, for consistently demonstrating one of the school values of Rights, Respect, Resilience and Relationships. Thank you also to all of the parents and guardians who attended the first Sector Assemblies of the year.

 

Student Progress

Please be advised that Student Progress Reports will be available on Compass on Friday 20th of March, and Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews will be held on Thursday 16th of April. More information regarding these interviews will be sent out in upcoming weeks.

 

Parents and guardians who wish to discuss their child’s progress in the meantime are encouraged to contact their child’s homegroup teacher.

 

 

 

 

Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

Thank you to all of the staff, students and parents/guardians who participated in Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings for students with additional learning needs throughout the last two weeks. These meetings have proven to be very valuable and informative, and contribute greatly to developing strong home-school partnerships.

 

Playground Use

As of Monday 2nd March, the designated playground areas for students have been changed so as to support students play during break times:

 

Prep/1

Playground in front of the canteen/hayshed

 

Year 2/3

Playground in front of the Houses

Year 4

Choice between Yr 2/3 playground and Yr 5/6 playground

Year 5/6

Playground behind the Year 5/6 Classrooms

 

Early Arrivals

A kind reminder that students at the College are not supervised in the yard until 8:35am, and we are unable to ensure their safety prior to this time. Parents and Guardians who need to bring their children to school before this time are encouraged to utilise our school Breakfast Club program or the

Camp Australia Before School Hours Program. Please contact reception for more information about either of these two options.
