Music Tuition

Piano & Voice
Hi, I am Felicity Eckert. I have been teaching piano and voice at Tyndale Christian School since 2013. I offer Piano and Voice lessons from age 7 and over.
I have always loved music and been drawn to it since I was very young. Eagerly starting Piano lessons at age 7, I grew up playing Piano, guitar, bass guitar and singing in church. I moved to Adelaide at the age of 19 to study a diploma of Christian Ministry at Paradise College of Ministries where I attended and became part of the music ministry while I studied there. During that time, I met and married my husband Jon Eckert. After Paradise College of Ministries, I studied music at TAFE SA for 2 years and throughout those early years in Adelaide I made my living working locally and on interstate tours as a musician, singer and songwriter. I also wrote and recorded a couple of EPs during that time.
Over the next few years my first child and then my boy/girl twins were born and I cut back a lot on my work to devote much needed time to my husband and children as well as to undertake further music education and training. I started teaching private music lessons at “Murraylands” in 2013 and have enjoyed watching my students love of music grow.
I have majored in music (voice) at Tabor Christian College and completed my Simply Music Piano Teacher training in 2011 which is a revolutionary playing based piano program that has a strong emphasis on each student accessing music, developing a love of music for life as well as finding their own unique creative expression through playing piano. I am currently the lead singer in a band “Innuendo” that regularly performs around SA doing Jazz, Soul, Blues and Pop.

Drums
My name is Shane Cox, I have been learning drums for over 12 years now and have enjoyed almost every lesson I've had! I thrive off rhythm and think that although we drummers are often cast aside as musicians, without drums as a backbone beat, music cannot be music.
Drumming is one of the most important things to me in life, and investing that into other young drummers is an incredible blessing in itself! I work hard to see that my drumming is always improving in style, skill and confidence! My main influences begin with Taylor Hawkins from 'Foo Fighters', Darren King from 'MUTEMATH' and most of all Nate Young from 'Anberlin'. I have recently started to adopt Nate's fast rhythmic technique into my own, and I idolize his raw ability for muscular endurance meaning he can play well for a long time! His attitude to drumming is one to take on as well, as he treats drumming as a blessing and one he is not entitled to.
As a result of hard work and discipline he teaches that only practice and learning from others greater than you will turn you into your own incredible drummer, and I to share the same mindset and belief. Darren has been a great influence on my drumming for years now, teaching me to always seek a new sound in the kit, and that if I can make a lot of sound with a small kit, then I should be able to BLOW you away with a full kit set up! He also has an incredible fast paced ability shows how good quick stick action can be! Taylor started his influence on my drumming back when I first started and during the early years. I learned so many of his songs and solo's, and mirrored his techniques very early on. I wouldn't say he has such an impact on me now, as that title mostly goes to Nate and Darren, but he built a firm foundation into the beginnings of my drumming career and I will always have a bit of his style and skill in mine.
I teach all elements of Rhythmic Theory and techniques that encourage and challenge young drummers to strive for excellence in the rhythm.
