Last Friday K-6 students participated in our annual Gym Day run by Mrs Harpley and her very capable helpers. It is a fantastic opportunity for our children to experience many different aspects of gymnastics and we are very lucky to have this expertise and equipment in our school.

Each year schools from the local area join us in our Gym Day and it is a great chance for our students to meet and mix with other children.

As the photos show all children love this day and enjoy the new experiences.

NSW Touch Tournament

Last week students from  Stage 4 travelled to Wagga to compete in the all school NSW Touch tournament. It was a hot long day for our students with both teams only having 1 reserve each while others had 6 or more to rotate. The boys had a great day finishing 3rd in their pool. They had great wins over Yanco (10-1) with Joe Prosper scoring 6 tries in this game followed by a great win over Tumbarumba 8-1. The boys then played two big schools in Kildare and Murrumbidgee College whom had too many players for the boys to contain. Their last game was against Junee HS, the boys went out to a 3-1 lead, before fatigue crept in to see the Junee bring it back to 3 all. A moment of brilliance from Joe Prosper saw us score in the corner in the last play of the game to snatch a 4-3 win. It was a great effort from our boys, competing against bigger schools and never looking out of place. It was a great experience for them and they did our school very proud.

The girls 7/8 touch team of Imogen, Stephanie, Ella, Katlyn, Katelyn, Skye and Lilly had a great day finishing 5th in their pool. This team played with a lot of determination and never gave up in the hot conditions. The girls came up against Junee High first, going down 4-0, then Hennessy B team with a narrow loss of 4-2 (with Imogen setting up Lilly to finish up and then Katie using her initiative to outclass the opposition and score). The next two games were against Murrumbidgee High (Which is Griffith and Wade High combined) and then Kildare from Wagga. These two schools fielded a full complement of 12 players. Although the girls were outclassed in both these games, they were able to push the opposition to within 5 metres of the try line every time they had a set of 6. This in itself was an incredible achievement.   The girls knew that in the hot conditions they needed to hang onto the ball for each set of 6. Worn off their feet they played Tumbarumba High in the last game and simply outplayed their opposition. An awesome achievement by every single girl in the team to finish the day with a well-deserved win 3 -0 with tries to Katie E, Imogen and Stephanie. These girls although exhausted after 5 games of touch were very worthy ambassadors for Boorowa Central School.   A big thank you to our three seniors Mackella, Byron and Jacob for assisting with referee duties at Wagga.

On Tuesday, BCS competed against Jindabyne CS in Yass for a 40 over cricket knockout. BCS claimed 4/256 at the end of 40 overs. Ben scored an amazing 114 runs and Byron 91. Congratulations to the team and to these boys on a great day of cricket.  Boorowa boys bowled the opposition out and claimed victory against Jindabyne in the cricket by 135 runs.

We  look forward to playing Molong at Molong next round in Week 7.  If we win on the day we go to the State finals in Dubbo on 11 December.
