Biomechanical Research and Innovation Challenge

This year, the University of Canberra has held a challenge for students in Year 10 to learn about biomechanics. Each team of girls was paired with a mentor and challenged to investigate an aspect of biomechanics.

Eve Wheeler, Helin Tarpis, Samira Vyas, Sanduli Wijesinghe and Calista Loh have worked extremely hard with their mentor, Dr Victoria Brackley from the Victorian Institute of Sport to investigate how a pregnancy band impacts the gait of a pregnant woman.

The team presented their research via a prepared video at a showcase on Friday the 12th of August. Congratulations to everyone involved. You can watch their amazing video below:

EduTech Conference

Melbourne Girls’ College was invited to open the Department of Education and Training’s conference room at the recent EduTech conference. The theme of the talk was celebrating 150 years of public education through technology. The students prepared a speech that looked at the past, present, and future of education in Victoria, with a focus on changing technology.

Congratulations to Helin Tarpis, Sanduli Wijesinghe, Nandini Vyas, Gemma Perry, Alex Pope and Al Pilepich for their great work

Team: Code-a Bit

Our application is used for scheduling tasks so that students aren't pressured by the possibly heavy workload and stress that comes with high school. Unlike similar scheduling apps, ours has wellbeing and study tip screens, along with motivation screens if students require motivation to complete work. On our app, you can set reminders for when schoolwork is due, when to start revising for a test, what day/time your work shifts are, and more. Our app focuses more on the wellbeing side than the work side. Students experience the most stressful times of their lives during high school, Work Hub is made to help them.

Team: Pork Chops
