Get ready, get set to Go for Gold this October!

Get active this October (3-28) and help our school become the Glen Eira ActiveSchools Champion for 2022! One lucky student will also win a Fitbit Ace. You will receive a Golden Ticket at the start of Term 4 and each time you walk, ride or scoot to school, tick one of the boxes on your ticket. Being active helps keep us fit and healthy so whether you walk, ride or scoot to school, all or part of the way, it all counts! Don’t forget to mark Friday 7th  October in your diaries because we will be encouraging teachers, students and parents to participate in a car free day so everyone walks, rides or scoots to school. At the end of October, you’ll submit your entry to go into the draw to win a Fitbit Ace as well as help our school take out the interschool honours! Good luck and have fun!

Year 6 Braeside Park Bike Ride

The Year 6 students had a great day out at Braeside Park. We did around 20km exploring the park and discovering the history of the area and the diverse wildlife to be found within the park. A huge ‘Thank you’ to our parent helpers for the day, Paula Ellis, Magdalena Oleksy, Steven Zmak, Deane Barnes and Matt Jasper.

The Foundation to Year 2 Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 26th October on the Ormond P.S. oval. Events will begin at 1:50pm and finish around 3:15pm. Students can wear house colours, but no face paint or coloured hair spray please.

STEAM News

This week Foundation students revised the alphabet and listened to a story called Chicka, Chicka Boom. They were then given the challenge of building a three-dimensional tree that could hold the most plastic letters. They showed resilience when all the letters fell off their trees and they had to start again!

Year 2 students were lucky enough to see their mealworms go through the final stage of their life cycle by changing into darkling beetles. We now have 2 beetles and hope to welcome more in the final week of term 3.

Year 6 students took part in a hands-on incursion titled Code Masters where they found out all about the binary system, looked at various parts of a computer and go to use different robotic toys such as Spheros. They are also finishing off their robotic hands which they made after discussing the advances being made in prosthetics.
