Extending Agricultural Pathways at College

Thank you College families for attending the parent forum on Tuesday morning to discuss agricultural pathways at College and extending to VCE.  It was great to have some many invested and knowledgeable parents in the room.  This was the first conversation and we will hold more sessions on this topic.  As discussed, we welcome your feedback and feel free to send through ideas, contacts, insights.

Skills for Life

Several weeks ago, our senior students were fortunate to participate in an Elevate Study Skills session. Our students learned about basic study skills, memory mnemonics, time management and finishing strong in final exams. We must be explicit and intentional in the way we support our students to learn and prepare for examinations.

If you are interested in finding out about how you, as a parent can support your child/ren, why not sign up for Elevate’s free parent webinars.

Next week the session is on Exam Room Skills.

Exams are definitely one of the most stressful times for children and parents. Regardless of the year they are in now or what grade they are currently achieving, they are going to feel the pressure.

With tests and exams underway for some and around the corner for others, you can be one step ahead by knowing what your child should do on the last week right up to the night before an exam.

On Wednesday 7 September,  ELEVATE  will be running a webinar on Exam Room Skills to show you how to help your child and what they should be doing in the final run up to exams. We will share with you:

What your child should be doing in the final week before any test or assessment

How to establish a good routine for the night before

 How to optimise exam-room performance

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

It is Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation week this week. We would like to acknowledge the dedication of our Learning Support Assistants, Bernadine Kelvy, Java Nuriyeva Palmer, Gab Lanman and Kellie Mitchell. These indefatigable women work with children experiencing a range of difficulties in the classroom and demonstrate amazing ingenuity, compassion, flexibility and insight. We acknowledge that in supporting these students, they also support all the other students in the class, the teachers and parents. Our school is a richer and more inclusive environment because of them.
