Library News

Wow what a fantastic Book Week! I’d like to extend a big thank you to the whole school community for participating in Book Week 2022 – Dreaming with Eyes Open. Our students and staff embraced the dress up day and there was some great conversations regarding book characters and our favourite books. Thank you to all of our parents who made the effort to put some book character costumes together for their family members. As I greeted families entering the school on Wednesday morning and visited classrooms there were smiling faces everywhere! It was wonderful to see. A big thank you also to Mrs Welti and Mrs Chick for coordinating our Book Week celebrations.

Like Dr. Seuss said “the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn. The more places you’ll go. So read, read, read.” No-one should ever stop reading and learning. It can be a simple joy, an adventure, a little bit of magic, an escape into the big wide world!  Thanks for a wonderful Book Week.

BILLY BOBBAROONI AND THE MYSTERY WORDS

Last week we were privileged to have Lisa Keskinen author of Billy Bobbarooni and the Mystery Words visit our school. Lisa says her book “celebrates the power of storytelling. Her novel weaves poem, riddles, short stories and other styles of writing throughout the narrative.  It is the first book in the Billy Bobbarooni series.” Lisa is an author, teacher and education consultant. We have four copies of the book available for students to borrow. Please come and see me or make a reservation for the book via Compass by using Oliver V5 our library cataloguing system.

Many students from Foundation to Year 6 who met with Lisa expressed interest in purchasing her book. Lisa has kindly organised a discount code for Rowville Primary School.
