Dear Parents and Carers,
School Camp
The Year 4-6 students had a great time this week at Woorabinda Camp, in Yallourn North. The Woorabinda staff managed almost every aspect of the camp and ensured that the students and the Le Page Primary School staff were well catered for. On Tuesday I spent the day on site. I participated in a nature walk and learned a lot about the local fauna and flora. Cooking damper by holding the dough on a stick, over a fire was fun. Lunch and dinner were scrumptious. Courtney Mason joined the students, Nick Duckett, Anna Ottersbach, Sam Boontjes, Kayla Mugford and Jarrod Bradley Wednesday and Thursday. Highlights for Courtney included the talent show, high ropes course, and how the students synergised, especially whilst on breakfast and dinner duties. The students were proactive in cleaning their cabins and managing their personal belongings. The students also had opportunity to return to a favourite activity later in the camp e.g., canoeing. The standout observation was the students’ behaviour towards staff and each other. They demonstrated respect and kindness, and most importantly, had fun together. This was a powerful bonding experience and significant growth towards independence was achieved.

2023 Enrolment Forms Now Due
School tours have become more frequent throughout the past two weeks. Enrolments are being registered for all year levels. Parents are requested to lodge enrolment forms by September 16, to allow for grade structuring and accurate workforce planning.
Footsteps Dance Program
The students are enjoying the music and movement activities. Next week there will be a catch-up session.
Chess Club
Chess Club begins in Term 4. The program will run during school hours on Fridays 2.00-3.00 pm. Registration details are on Compass.
It is Not Okay to be Regularly Late
It should only be on minimal occasions, that students arrive late to school. Sometimes we all have private appointments to attend. 90% of students are punctual and reap the full benefit of settling into the class on time and participating in the explicit Reading instruction between 9.00 am and 10.00 am. For students who regularly arrive up to one hour late, significant learning is lost, and difficult to catch up. Arriving late regularly is not an option when we want the best for our students. All late arrivals need to present themselves at the office for a late pass, and Compass attendance record modification.
House Athletics
Last week Jarrod Bradley managed the whole-school event. It was a lot of fun and the last race finished before the rain. It was great to see parents, carers and friends cheering the students on. Top placegetters in the higher year levels will continue to participate in the regional competition.
An Overview of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey
The link provides a quick and clear overview of the 7 Habits and can assist parents and carers to further understand why we have chosen to facilitate the Leader in Me strategy at Le Page Primary School. Through the Leader in Me approach, we talk common language, develop common understandings, and practice habits that lead to a productive and meaningful life.

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?
Have a great weekend!
