MUSIC LESSONS
Music lessons for all Year 7’s students commenced during Week 4 of this term. Students will be aware that their lessons will appear on Compass and that they should also be bringing back their hire forms if necessary. We are delighted that so many Year 7’s have put up their hands to learn an instrument this year, it’s a great indicator that exciting times are ahead in Performing Arts. If there are any students who still wish to learn an instrument, please head over the music department at any stage and talk to one of the friendly music staff.
7E BAND
An initiative that we are currently undertaking for the first time in 2022 is to develop an EXCEL band for students of 7E. As studies have consistently shown that music participation enhances many areas of the developing brain, we are hoping to provide the best opportunity for our excel students by integrating the curriculum from both classroom and instrumental music, in a meaningful way. So far, we have had great results which last week resulted in our very first rehearsal as a class, led by Mr. Russell Ward, director of Woodwind. We have no doubt that this class will go on to achieve great things as a band and performing together for an audience (including parents) in Term 2.
