NGV SUMMER SCHOOL

At the end of 2021 Visual Arts students were given the opportunity to apply for the NGV Summer School at the National Gallery of Victoria. The Visual Arts Domain are proud to announce that 4 students were successful in their applications and were awarded fully subsidised places in the Summer School program!

The program included:

  • An introduction and viewing to Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto
  • Two hands-on workshops with Melbourne-based fashion illustrator,  Angie Réhe (day one) and NGV Educators exploring design thinking and the design process (day two)
  • A Q&A industry connections session with RMIT School of Fashion and Textiles.
  • Behind-the- scenes tour of the NGV and NGV Educator-led Gallery blitz sessions.

The 4 students who attended the Summer School Program were: Avril Cabaliero 12C, Meea Koivu 10B, Christina Rigopoulou 10E and Jaylesa Kalogerinis 11A.

Christina said: "My experience at the NGV was a fantastic opportunity to grow my skills and to learn more about fashion, design, textiles and the procedure of designing and creating hand-on clothing.
I got to explore the behind the scenes of fashion shows and the background and history of the very well known and successful Gabrielle Chanel".

All students had a wonderful time learning new skills, making new friends, experiencing behind the scenes at the NGV and developing their confidence. Well done for taking this great opportunity and for representing our College in the community with pride.
