Canceled orders will receive a credit to your account if done so prior to the specified cut-off time.

Recipe of the week: San Choy Bau

 

  • 12 large lettuce leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2cm piece ginger, finely grated
  • 500g mince – pork, beef or chicken 
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 6 snow peas, thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 lime juiced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup beansprouts, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • 1 spring onion thinly sliced for garnish
  • fried shallots for garnish
  • lime wedges (optional)
  • extra Hoisin (optional)
  • thinly sliced red chilli (optional)

 

Turn lettuce over & remove core from base of lettuce, run the lettuce under cold water, carefully separate the lettuce leaves. 

Set leaves aside to drain.

 

Heat wok or pan over high heat until hot. Add oil.

Add garlic, ginger and mince. Stir-fry for 2- 3 minutes or until mince is lightly browned.

Add in vegetables, continue to stir for 2 minutes.

Add soy sauce, hoisin, lime juice, sesame oil & seeds.

Season with salt & pepper if required. 

Cook for a further 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

 

Spoon mixture into lettuce leaves. 

Top with coriander, spring onions, fried shallots & extra Hoisin. Serve with lime wedges.

 

Alternatives

Use mushrooms or tofu in place of mince
