Teaching Sprints

At Kalinda we value a really collaborative and teamwork approach, from our whole staff team to our smaller year level and department teams. We are constantly reviewing the ways in which we can best impact positive academic and wellbeing outcomes for students. We know that when we work together, we achieve great things!

3 of these teams are Professional Learning Teams (PLTS). At Kalinda our Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing PLTs are a representative group of teachers from all teaching levels and they focus on improvement across the school in those areas.

Our PLTs are always looking for new and innovative ways to drive our improvement discussions and this year we are beginning a journey of exploring 'Teaching Sprints'. Teaching Sprints is a team-based process for enabling the continuous development of teacher professional practices. The process supports teacher teams to define highly specific areas of student learning to improve, design evidence-informed strategies, and to collect evidence to check their impact. We look forward to exploring this process and continually aiming for growth in our school.

New staff at Kalinda

Amongst Team Kalinda we have several new faces this year and it has been so lovely to witness them discovering the wonderful things about our school! I'd like to introduce 2 of them to you today, stay tuned to our next newsletter for some more!

Pam Cox - Education Support Staff (Integration Aide)

Hello my name is Pamela Cox and I just love working at Kalinda Primary School. My husband and I have 3 grown children and 4 beautiful grandchildren, who range in age from 8 months to 17 years. My interests include my family, travel, Formula1, reading, and watching our basketball team, Melbourne United play.

Tim Huntington - Release Teacher

Hi, I'm Tim Huntington. After having completed my degree in Psychological Science, I had some great experiences working to support engagement of behaviourally challenging students in schools across Victoria and then spent some time working for the DHHS as a Child Protection Practitioner. This background focusing on engagement, policy, procedure and wellbeing has made me excited to make the most of Kalinda's beautiful culture which cares so strongly for holistically supporting student success. I look forward to continuing to meet the exciting personalities across the school and have a great time helping students flourish and achieve their best both academically, as well as socially and emotionally.

We are kind. We are resilient. We are respectful.
