Whole School Lockdown/Evacuation

Friday 15 September 2023 from 12.15 to 12.45pm

Please note that the School will be staging a practise drill for a lockdown/evacuation on Friday 15 September 2023 from 12.15 to 12.45pm across both the Senior and Junior Schools.

This will include practising a classroom lockdown followed by an evacuation procedure.

Practise in these drills is essential to ensure that both staff and students understand what is expected of them in an emergency, so that they can remain calm and follow the correct procedures. All of this ensures their safety in an emergency.

We are informing families about the drill to avoid any misunderstandings or alarm when the drill takes place.

Kinross Wolaroi Named Top Regional Music School in NSW

Kinross Wolaroi School has been acknowledged by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) as one of the ten most outstanding accredited schools in NSW and is the only regional school to be awarded this honour.

Kinross Wolaroi was acknowledged in the AMEB (NSW) Teaching Awards Honor Roll on 18 July and was listed alongside top independent schools such as Sydney Grammar School, who achieved first place.

AMEB (NSW) provides assessments in music performance, for students from beginner to diploma level. Exams are held in NSW and the ACT, with more than 35,000 exams undertaken by students every year.

Kinross Wolaroi’s Head of Music, Mrs Jacqueline Shields, said, “we have quite a number of students who commit to sitting these exams and this recognition is testament to their hard work and excellent results.”

“In recent years we’ve looked to be particular about the calibre of our visiting instrumental tutors and are very lucky to have been able to engage teachers who have worked in elite orchestras across Australia, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra,” Mrs Shields said. “I think our students having access to these teachers is paying dividends.”

AMEB is the most widely used assessment system in its fields of study in Australia and the AMEB credentials are recognised professionally both in Australia and overseas.

The other top ten listed Honour Roll schools were: Ascham School, Abbotsleigh Senior School, Kambala Girls School, Knox Grammar School, The Scots College, Knox Grammar, Pymble Ladies’ College, Moriah College and Meridan School.
