Over the holidays and the first weeks back at school our students have been exceptionally busy. During the holidays the students attended Cadet Leadership Camp, Thredbo ski trip, Interschools Snowsports, a musical intensive rehearsal week and a rugby camp. This was then followed by the musical week and a return to winter sport in Week 1.
Cadets
The holidays started with a successful promotions camp. It was fantastic to see over 100 students in attendance at the promotions camp. Students were put through their paces in both the classroom and outside putting the newly learnt leadership skills into practice. The large number of candidates was pleasing and has led to some excellent appointments in the senior ranks of the cadet unit this year. We look forward to watching the leadership skills of this group develop across the course of the year.
Thredbo Ski Trip
The school’s annual ski trip traveled to Thredbo at the start of the holidays. Just over 55 students hit the slopes for five days. Conditions were very favourable with the students having plenty of snow on the slopes and a couple days of sunshine to add to the atmosphere. Thank you to the staff who gave up their holiday time to make this possible.
Interschools Snowsports
The school snowsports team travelled to Perisher during the holidays and achieved some amazing results in the event. The two standouts were Jett Johnson and Thomas Karrasch who have both qualified for the State championship competition in all their events, with Thomas receiving a bronze medal in Moguls.

It was a great week and despite some tricky conditions the kids gave it their all, representing the school with some very exciting results.
The Little Shop of Horrors
The highlight of the start to the term was the school musical. This year’s musical The Little Shop of Horrors was an excellent choice for the students in the show. The talented students at this school did an amazing job of entertaining the Kinross Wolaroi community. A musical of this quality simply cannot happen without passionate and dedicated staff working hard in the background. Alex Dunkley and her team did a truly outstanding job of this production really maximizing the talents within the school.
After a tough road trip to Sydney last weekend, we finish the season with two home games and then an away trip to Bathurst. Our boys need to be focused on their training and getting the wins over the next 3 weeks. Every game is crucial as we attempt to improve our overall ranking in the ISA School Club Championship. Fixtures for this weekend are attached.
Our Jersey Presentation Breakfast will be held again this Saturday at 10.00am in the Dining Hall. This weekend we are asking our U14A and U13A teams to be in attendance to present the jerseys to the 1st XV and 2nd XV. Boys from these teams are asked to arrive in full school uniform to the Dining Hall by 9.50am. Parents are more than welcome to attend but please note food will be served to the students only.
In exciting news, our Year 7 Boarders will be playing a game this Sunday at 10.00am on Sally Kennett Oval. Our boys will be playing against the Western Region PSSA team. This is a Year 6 representative team and our boys will be providing a much appreciated warm up game before the Western Region boys head to their NSW titles. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 7 Boarders and all our boy boarders will be in attendance supporting our Year 7 Rugby boys.
Finally, congratulations to Maggie Kirby and Harper Shaw who recently represented NSW Country in their annual fixtures against Sydney. Well done!
Best Wishes,
Matt Tink, MIC Rugby
Over the last two weeks, Year 8 students have participated in five introductory lessons to Rowing. These lessons have included learning the mechanics of how to row using the rowing machines, a trip out to the rowing shed and a pool session. The pool session included a swim test, entry in and out of the boat and how to balance whilst sitting in the boat. Year 8 have enjoyed the opportunity to experience all aspects of the Kinross Rowing Program. Thank you to Mr Harrison (MIC Rowing) and Ben Watt (Rowing coach) for organising and running the sessions.

We were fortunate to enter the quarter finals and unfortunately went down against Mackellar Girls Campus.
Out of the 16 teams, KWS took home 5th place in the state which is an incredible result. The girls should be commended on their positive sportsmanship and pride they displayed throughout the competition.
