SKiPPS Gala Night - this Saturday!

Our major community social event of the year is taking place this Saturday and we would love all of our families to get involved to have a great night and raise funds for our school.

Our 2023 Gala Night is taking place at the St Kilda Town Hall from 7pm - midnight this Saturday (5th August).

The nights are a great SKiPPS tradition and a perfect chance to connect with other parents, let your hair down and enjoy some wonderful food, drinks and live entertainment.

There is also going to be an incredible silent auction and raffle with some amazing prizes to be won.

The cocktails are from Seamstress in the city and priced at an amazing $15 each.

Don't worry if you don't know anyone else going - our organisers will make sure you are placed on a table with other parents from your child's year level and so it is a great chance to make new friends, build connections and get to know more members of our wonderful school community.

Tickets are a bargain $45 each and can be bought online at  https://compasstix.com/e/08xva3dbks

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Celebration of the Arts - 'Luminoso'

We are beyond excited to be starting work on our 2023 Celebration of the Arts (COTA).

After last year's highly successful 'No Planet Bee' evening, we can't wait to share this great event with the school community later this year.

The event is the high point of our school year and is an amazing community event. Students are already working hard in their weekly Visual Arts and Performing Arts lessons to develop and create artwork and performances around a theme. This year, COTA will celebrate and explore the glowing, shining and illuminating with our theme of 'Luminoso'

The work comes together on the evening (5pm on Thursday 2nd November) and the school becomes a combined art show, performance space and community party. All classes, orchestras and choirs perform to the audience, all students display their artwork and there is food and drink for sale.

The evening is always a great demonstration of the ability, confidence and creativity of our students and a lovely reminder of all of our school values. Please put the date into your diary now so you don't miss out.

We want to know what you think!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement.

The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

A random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents / caregivers / guardians has been selected to participate in this year’s survey and they will receive an email directly from Neil with instructions on how to access and complete the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
